WAKEFIELD, Va. — Police and state game wardens are searching for the killer of a tame deer that was raised from a fawn at the Southeast Virginia 4-H Center, and the center has offered a $1,000 reward for information.
The center director was quoted in Sunday newspapers as saying that the young buck, named Big Boy, was “like a member of our family. Children from all over the state had petted that deer.” A search Nov. 29 uncovered evidence that someone had slaughtered the animal in its pen.
