A crackdown on suspected drunk driving resulted in 86 arrests on Pacoima streets, Los Angeles police said Sunday.
The crackdown was initiated in the area of San Fernando Road and Osborne Street on Saturday night and early Sunday.
Police said no checkpoints were used on streets in the area, but roving teams of officers pulled over drivers believed to be impaired. The department’s Immediate Booking and Release System van was used to speed the testing and arrest of suspects and their release to friends or family members.
Police said the emphasis on arresting drunk drivers is expected to continue through the holiday season.
