Women’s Basketball Roundup : Torczon Leads Fullerton Past Dayton

Amy Torczon scored 20 points and had 13 rebounds and Wendy Anae scored 15 points to lead Cal State Fullerton to a 64-33 semifinal victory over the University of Dayton in the Illinois women’s basketball tournament Friday at University of Illinois at Champaign.
The Titans (2-1) will play Illinois at 4 p.m. today in the tournament final. Illinois defeated Ball State, 95-51, in the other semifinal Friday.
Fullerton built a 17-1 lead in the first 12 minutes, and held a 29-14 halftime lead.
Texas Tech 65, UC Irvine 60--The Anteaters (0-3) lost in the first round of Red Raider tournament at Texas Tech. Sheryl Eiland led Irvine with 14 points. Natalie Crawford added 13 points and 18 rebounds. Texas Tech (2-1) advances to play Arizona State in tournament final. UCI will face Temple in a consolation game.
West Texas State 95, Chapman 55--Leona Gerber was 8 for 8 from the field, including a three-pointer, and 3 for 3 from the line for a game-high 20 points to lead West Texas State (2-0). Dana Dawson and Karan Polk had 14 points each for the Panthers (4-2). Chapman will face North Dakota State in today’s third-place game.
