Eischen, 2 Teammates Chosen for All-County Volleyball Team

SAN DIEGO — Stephanie Eischen, selected as the 1-A player of the year, leads the list of three players from Francis Parker High School selected by the San Diego Hall of Champions to the All-San Diego Section 1-A volleyball team.
Also selected from Francis Parker were Tina Harris and Heidi West. Francis Parker will play for its second straight Division III state title today against Saint Helena (20-7) of the North Coast Section at 3:30 at Cal State Fullerton.
Francis Parker is the only San Diego County volleyball team to win a state title. If it wins today, Francis Parker (25-3) will be the first Division III team to repeat as champions since the playoffs were realigned in 1982.
Also selected to the six-member 1-A All-Section team were: Stella Pacheco (Holtville), Karyn Schell (La Jolla Country Day) and Betsy Wilgenburg (Calvin Christian).
Alicia Turner of the 2-A Section champion University of San Diego High School was named as the 2-A player of the year. University’s Jeni Murrell was also named to the 2-A team.
Other 2-A selections were: Lupe Velarde (Mar Vista), Laura Miller (Christian), Blair Noonan (San Pasqual) and Carla Ceja (Marian).
Sweetwater’s Carla Taeatafa was named the 3-A player of the year. Also named to the 3-A team were: Lynn Patrick (Serra), Suzy Schutz (Grossmont), Wendy Dennis (Grossmont) Jenifer Torns (Mt. Carmel) and Lisa Harmon (Torrey Pines).
