Local News in Brief : Countywide : ‘Cut-a-Thon’ to Aid Anti-Molesting Group
- Share via
Forty hair salons in the county are donating their services Sunday in a “cut-a-thon” to aid a child-abuse prevention group.
The fund-raiser was organized through the Orange County Nail and Hair Designers Guild to benefit Mothers and Others Against Child Abuse, a Southern California group that aids families when a potential for child abuse exists.
Mothers and Others will receive all proceeds from the cut-a-thon, a guild spokeswoman said. In addition, the guild is donating nearly 4,000 haircuts to youths who are handicapped, chronically ill, disadvantaged or recovering from drug or alcohol addiction, said Mothers and Others executive director Sally Nava Kanarek.
To locate participating salons, contact the guild at 951-8886 or Kanarek at 843-LOVE.
