Spending the State Tax Rebates

I know that Deukmejian took a lot of heat for his tax rebate idea so I want to make sure he knows that his efforts were not wasted.
As my itemized list shows, I spent my rebate on pure necessities, not frivolous things such as improving the reading, writing and arithmetic skills of our children. No sirree, I put my rebate to good use:
