‘Night’ Moves

Listening to Stevie Nicks’ rendition of “Silent Night” from the “A Very Special Christmas” album, I noticed that two very integral lines from the song, “Christ the Savior is born” and “Jesus Lord at Thy birth,” were conspicuously missing.
Could it be that the producers of “A Very Special Christmas,” in their attempts not to offend anybody, are forgetting whose birthday Christmas is supposed to commemorate?

According to an A&M; spokesman, the decision to not sing the lines was made for musical reasons, not religious ones, and it was made by the artists, not the producers.
