Lou Holtz, Notre Dame football coach, said that Tim Brown, the leading Heisman Trophy candidate, should be ready to play against Texas A & M in the Cotton Bowl New Year’s Day, despite having played with a dislocated shoulder the last five weeks of the season.

“We didn’t want to say much about it for obvious reasons,” Holtz said. “He suffered a slight separation in the sixth game of the year. We think he will be much better by the Cotton Bowl.

“Timmy took a pounding. He also played with a broken ring finger.”
