Local News in Brief : Laguna Beach : Kenney Unanimously Chosen to Be Mayor

City Councilman Dan Kenney was unanimously chosen to be Laguna Beach’s new mayor.
Kenney, who will serve in the largely ceremonial post for a year, replaces outgoing Mayor Neil Fitzpatrick.
Kenney, a pharmacist, was elected to the City Council in 1982 and reelected in 1986. It will be the second mayoral term for Kenney, who held the post in 1984-85.
The council Tuesday night also selected Councilman Robert F. Gentry as mayor pro tem. Gentry currently is serving his second four-year term on the council.
