Compton lost ground when Santa Margarita star had foul trouble

Compton led fast, 9-4, after two minutes, just as Santa Margarita’s star, Klay Thompson, racked up his third foul and hit the bench. This looked so sweet for Compton, right? Or so you would think. But it was the Eagles -- not the Tarbabes -- who then surged on a big 10-1 run as Thompson observed from the sidelines
Compton Coach Tony Thomas has seen his team falter in such a situation. ‘We tend to look at things as easy,’ Thomas said. ‘When (Thompson) was sitting, it didn’t get easy at all, and we went flat.’
So flat, that the Tarbabes lost, 62-55, in a Southern Section boys’ basketball quarterfinal playoff game at Compton.
