Citrus Hill opened its doors in Perris only two years ago, but the Hawks already have a Southern Section football title and, as of today, a Division I signee.
Jamie Irving, a 6-foot-1, 210-pound speedy middle linebacker, committed to Texas-El Paso Tuesday morning. He took an offical trip to El Paso two weeks ago. He also reportedly had offers from Nevada, New Mexico and Utah State.
Irving was the team’s leading tackler last season, helping Citrus Hill to a 14-0 record and the Southern Section East Valley Division championship.
UTEP Coach Mike Price did well in the I.E. this recruiting season, also landing a commitment from Rancho Verde running back Deshawn Grayson, an all-state sophomore who spent the early part of this season trying to bounce back from a serious knee injury suffered his junior year.
Grayson and Irving were on the same freshman team at Rancho Verde.
Carter quarterback Khalid Wooten committed to UTEP back in December, but changed his mind last week and pledged to Nevada. Wooten is expected to play defensive back at the next level.
