St. Bonaventure linebacker Ryan Medina has committed to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and will sign with the Mustangs on Wednesday. The 6-foot-3, 234-pounder is the third member of St. Bonny’s starting defensive contingent to commit to a Division I school (Vaughn Dotsy, Arizona; Patrick Hall, USC).

Unfortunately, an injury-riddled season will prevent star linebacker Ryan Panapa, pictured, from playing for a Division I program next fall. According to St. Bonaventure offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator Roger Sonsini, Panapa plans to play for his former coach, Jon Mack, at Ventura College, even though he had Arizona and Washington State drooling over him at one point.

Panapa broke his foot in the 2007 season opener before tearing his MCL in practice near the end of Channel League play. He played in only one full game.

As for Channel League Defensive Player of the Year Loren Powers, incredibly, he has no offers on the table. Sonsini said he’s waiting to see if any offers come his way after the dust-up from national signing day calms down, but Powers is focusing most of his attention on playing for a Division II program.
