Arcade Fire drop a slew of new album clues

Another day, another cryptic rune of Arcade Fire album release news.

The Canadian rock band has been ever-so-slowly releasing morsels related to its much-anticipated new album “Reflektor.” What do we know for sure? It’s out Oct. 29 on Merge Records, and James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem helped on production duties. The title-track single will make rounds Monday at 9 p.m., with a video directed by Anton Corbijn.

But a minor storm of new details popped up Thursday. As Pitchfork noted, an image of what looks like a new 12-inch single from the band has been circulating in indie-music-store circles, accompanied by a map of record stores on a site thereflektors.com (though it’s not officially confirmed the band’s behind it). There’s a pinpoint right where Amoeba Records is located in Hollywood.

Also, a Montreal blog, The Main, has an unverified report from what they’re describing as a very secret Arcade Fire show at a Montreal salsa-dancing club, where the band reportedly played a bevy of new tunes.

The Main said the James Murphy influence was apparent, describing the sound as “unexpectedly dance-oriented, due to the upbeat rhythms of conga drums and electronic flourishes alongside their most poppy sounds.”
